I was in Hawaii last week on biz (if you can believe that) and wanted to pass on a few picts from the resort we were lodged at. As with my last trip to Hawaii, I found the whole resort to be a tad to anti-septic. We drove ~30 min through a lunar landscape of black volcanic rock and then bam, in some otherwise unremarkable corner of beach, there's a perfectly manicured patch of green with a big resort hotel right smack in the middle of it. With no other civilization for miles, the shakdown ensued ($3 for a can of diet Coke? $2.50 for a bag of chips?) & really helped seal the Disneyland feel to the place. Still, I suppose there are worse things in the world to complain about than being in Hawaii on a biz trip ;-) The greens & swimming pool at the Fairmont Orchid A stretch of volcanic beach where Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) would climb up to rest A couple enjoying a picture perfect sunset |
