Suicide Bikinis: What Doth You Protest?

Yahoo News article via LittleGreenFootballs (permalink).   Since when does anti-war ("no guerra") mean pro-suicide bombers?

Demonstrators imitating suicide bombers hold up a banner which reads 'NO WAR' as thousands of demonstrators protest in Madrid on Sept. 29, 2002 against a possible U.S.-led military strike on Iraq. U.N. weapons inspectors were to meet on Sunday to prepare for talks with Iraqi officials on details of their return to Baghdad after a nearly four-year break. Somehow they can be opposed to professional soldiers who work to limit their killing to other professional soldiers and, at the same time, be supportive of lunatic suicide bombers who do whatever they can to kill civilians?

As is often discussed in the blogosphere, there is something much deeper that these 2 bikini bombers are opposed to than just simple war.  LGF, for example, says it's indicative of a latent anti-Semitism still lingering in Europe.

I actually think it's yet another datapoint for a general loathing of the West.   Israel just happens to be on the frontlines of Western civilization in an openly hostile-to-the-West environment.

On a humorous note, an LGF reader comments:

... is the US the only country stuck with unwashed, stinking, unshaven, and hideous-looking peacenik protesters, or do other countries have this problem? One can't go by one picture alone, I fully realize, but why do the Spanish get hot-protester-babes while we get people who look like Manson family rejects? It just isn't fair!!! Maybe the photographer found the only two attractive people at the march...
